The Shine Dome

ANZIC Forum will be based at The Shine Dome, Ian Potter House, 9 Gordon St ACTON ACT 2601

Conditions of Entry to The Shine Dome

The Australian Academy of Science is committed to keeping those vulnerable in our community safe, and requires all attendees meeting at The Shine Dome to be fully vaccinated and to confirm vaccination status prior to entry to the building. All attendees must check in using the Check in CBR app, use provided hand sanitiser, maintain good hand hygiene, keep their distance and if unwell must stay ‘home’ and get tested.

Accessibility

To ensure a good experience for all attendees we aim to hold the ANZIC Forum 2022 where barriers of any type do not exclude people from attending or participating. Should you have trouble accessing portions of the meeting, please contact the ANZIC Office if you wish to organise additional support.

Mobility

The ground floor of the Ian Wark Theatre, and the Jaeger Room, Becker Room, Dorothy Hill Room and amenities, are all wheelchair accessible. Due to the heritage nature of the building, however, doorways into the venue are only equipped for access by standard wheelchairs.

The Fenner Room and the mezzanine level of the Ian Wark Theatre are accessed by two broad flights of well-lit stairs.

Hearing assistance

The Ian Wark Theatre is equipped with an infrared hearing loop. Most of the main talks will be recorded and available on-demand after a few days so people can (re)watch at their convenience with closed captioning.

Aid Support Animals

The Shine Dome allows for any aid support animals in the building.

Parking

Two (2) disabled parking spaces are available within the Academy car park.

The forecourt area of the Shine Dome in Gordon Street is for set-down and pick-up only. Paid street parking (limited time) is available in Gordon and other local streets. Public paid car parks are within short walking distance to the Shine Dome—across the road on Gordon Street, or the Wilson car parks on London Circuit and under the Nishi Building in Phillip Law Street. The Access Canberra website has more information on public car parks.
