Overview

The Australia New Zealand IODP Consortium (ANZIC) is offering a limited number of subsidies for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to attend its Future D.E.E.P. Workshop. The subsidies aim to encourage and support ECR participation and engagement in developing proposals for the next generation of scientific drilling.

Funding of up to AUD$600 is available to successful applicants, with applications closing by close of business on 14 March 2023.

Eligibility

ANZIC will assess expression of interest based on the following criteria:

  • Your institution is an ANZIC Australian Member
  • Your institution supports your attendance to the ANZIC Future DEEP Workshop
  • You are an ECR*
  • Must attend the ANZIC Future Deep workshop for the full two days.

* We define Early Career Researchers (ECR) as students and researchers who are at the undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate level (or equivalent) up to 5 years post-PhD.

Provide a brief summary (maximum 1/2 page) of how this opportunity will benefit you and enhance your prospects for career development. Applicants can provide the name of their supervisor, mentor or their institution ANZIC representative in their submission. 

To apply, please submit the required summary by close of business on 14 March 2023 to iodp.administrator@anu.edu.au.

Expressions of Interest will be assessed by the ANZIC Science Committee on the basis of the strength of the proposal and its alignment with the ANZIC Future DEEP Workshop as well as the potential career development benefits to the applicant, with successful applicants provided with details about arranging travel and fund access. Allowable budget items include return economy flight to Hobart, accommodation and transfers.
